Local steel prices edged up on upcoming monsoons

Indian steel market opened higher in prices in the northern and southern part of the country for steel on Monday ahead of the upcoming monsoons. Semi finished product prices and steel billet prices edged up in major hubs.

Long steel products

Semi finished products crept up by about Rs. 100 – Rs. 300 per ton. However, mild steel ingots spot prices were at Rs. 36,700/ton at Punjab, Rs. 32,900/ton at Raipur and Rs. 32,500 per ton at Rourkela.

For steel billet, Rs. 35,500/ton was the market close price at Kandla i.e up by Rs 200/ton and Rs. 37,700/ton in Punjab.

Finished steel products

The rebar prices remained steady at the major trading centers including Delhi, Indore, Punjab and Mumbai, Apart from some places like Ahmedabad, Chennai and Durgapur.
