Global warming is an issue of concern for population across the globe. Most of the countries are taking initiative to combat this problem and UK is not an exception. In fact the UK government has taken a firm step to combat this menace. The Tories are awarding cash reward to anyone who is involved in the process of recycling and is thus combating global warming.

Now let us first take a look as why recycling is an environmentally friendly initiative and how it can stop global warming? It cannot be denied that recycling would decrease the quantity of dumped garbage to a significant extent. The Government has in fact taken initiative to tax those councils who send tons waste to fill the land. At the same time it has taken steps to reward individuals/organizations which practice recycling.

A recycling plan was also scheduled to be held following the Copenhagen climate change summit. This plan is likely to satisfy the following objectives:
•    Reduction of UK carbon emissions by 10% within one year.
•    Creating the first green bank for investment.
•    Introducing Green ISAs and favoring green technologies
•    Transparency in Whitehall energy consumption

According to the Tories, the government initiative of recycling received a negative blow due to bin taxes. Mr. George Osborne, the shadow chancellor says that it is a great idea to pay rather than punish families in order to encourage recycling.

Moreover, the Conservatives have started with the schemes of vouchers, which can be redeemed both online and in shops in council areas of Windsor and Maidenhead. Apart from that residents are also issued with special recycling bins whose contents are scanned and in turn identified by the waste trucks  which then also identifies the address of the recycling points and allocates them rewards.
Efforts are also been taken to spread the entire program through out the country so that greater amount of rubbish is being sent to landfill sites

Currently, 37% of the household waste is recycled up in England and Wales. This percentage has increased from 7.5% in 1996. However, landfill taxes which has been levied by the government are estimated to rise from 40$ a tonne to 70$ a tonne in the next three years. It is also expected that 300m$ will be saved a year in the cost of energy. This saving will be used to tackle the debt crisis of the labor.

Green recovery is the major and primary focus of the government because this recovery process is not just a fight against the change in climate but also a fight to ensure new jobs, new industry, lower family energy bills and less wasteful government.
