June Report On Scrap Metal market Becomes Unpredictable

This month the scrap metal markets were tackling with an inconsistent price structure-. The prices varied considerable depending on the scrap grade, mills and region.   Based on trade circle, prices were able to reduce from between €45 - €70 per ton for obsolete scrap from the steel mills depending on the price level at the end of May and for industrial scrap €20 - €40 per ton. Also many mills have throttled back their production because of technical difficulties as the demand in the east Germany was noticeably reduced comparing to the previous month.

Moreover, the prices were higher in Poland and the Czech Republic with increase in supply at very attractive prices. Hence consumer could always fall back on this, if required. The price markdown in south Germany tended to be towards the lower end of the range due to the Italian consumer’s behavior. an increase in scrap demand (in comparison to the previous month) from several Italian consumers as well as a €20 - €30 higher price levels than in Germany led to an increase in delivery willingness of German suppliers.

While we are not sure whether to believe in the consumer’s statement or the predictions by experts, we'd prefer to make the consumer statement to become true.
