Causes for setback in scrap prices

Right from the beginning of this month, there has been a setback in the US scrap prices. It is analyzed that the prices in US domestic market have come down due to –
-    The present season in US
-    The steel mills have begun their annual maintenance
-    Weak steel flat market

Some steel mills have already purchased surplus scrap in the last month itself and hence they do not want to rush buying scrap at the moment.

Presently, the prices for shredded scrap and HMS1 are US$443~US$453/ton. There seems to be a ray of hope that the scrap prices may raise in the month of September as the steel mills would start functioning thus the purchase demand would ascend.
