Steel mills in Turkey had postponed their purchase of scrap from US for around 10days. After this break, steel mills are now setting out to purchase scrap from US.
Lately, there was bulk purchase of deep sea scrap from the Turkish mills. The scraps were procured at $440/tons C&F basis that is estimated to be lower than the previous purchase. Price has dropped by $10 to $15 has per ton.
Apart from deep sea scrap from US, Turkey has also procured shredded scrap and HMS scrap from UK. The purchase price was around $440.5/ton. However, Turkish buyers claim that the prices of HMS 80:20 in European markets are much lower compared to US, i.e. $430 - $435 / ton, C&F basis.
