ISRI Code TOUGH is considered as high paying grades of Aluminum Scrap and shall consist of new, clean, uncoated, unpainted Aluminum Clippings and Solids of two or more alloys with a minimum thickness of .015” (.38 mm) and to be free of hair wire, wire screen, dirt and other non-metallic items. Oil and grease in Aluminum Clippings/Solids not to total more than 1%. Also free from punchings less than 1/2” (1.27 cm) in size.

ISRI Code TOUGH Mixed New Aluminum Alloy Clippings – Specifications

Aluminum Clippings to be free from Aluminum turnings, slags, drosses, spatters, shavings, scalpers and fines. To qualify for this grade ISRI Code TOUGH, the Aluminum Clippings must be completely free from painted Aluminum Clippings/Punchings.

Aluminum Clippings are devoid of foil, screen frames, old corrugated sheets, venetian blinds, castings, hair wire, screen wire, food or beverage containers, radiator shells, airplane sheet, and bottles caps, plastic, dirt, and other foreign impurities.

Aluminum Clippings/Punchings must be unpainted and must be free of paper, plastic coating, plastics, ink, iron, steel, wood, dirt, trash or debris, corrosion, fibre, foam, fibreglass backing, and any other contaminants or other non-metallic items.

ISRI Code TOUGH Aluminum Clippings to be completely free of 2000 and 7000 series Aluminum alloy. Aluminum punchings more than 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) diameter are acceptable.

Acceptable alloys in ISRI Code TOUGH Aluminum Clippings: 3000 series, 1000 series, 5005, 5052, 6061, 6063 Aluminum alloy. Any other alloys must be discussed with the scrap purchaser and seller before shipment.

ISRI Code TOUGH Aluminum Scrap consists of Aluminum Clippings containing mixed low Copper Clippings and more than two alloys. On the other hand, ISRI Code TOOTH Aluminum Scrap contains only segregated Aluminum Clippings completely free of other alloys.

ISRI Code TOOTH Aluminum Clippings priced higher than ISRI Code TOUGH Aluminum Clippings, as it contains only one alloy of Aluminum it doesn't require any additional refinement.
